Commissions

Where legacies begin

A commissioned piece begins with conversation. What do you need this object to hold—physically, symbolically? What should it reveal to visitors, and what should it keep private? Every commission is an opportunity to build something that has never existed before.

I take on a limited number of commissions each year. Each piece receives complete attention until it's finished. The work cannot be rushed without betraying its purpose.

The Process

01

Initial Conversation

We discuss your vision, requirements, and the space the piece will inhabit. I'll ask questions about how you want to interact with the work—what it should display, what it should conceal, what meaning you want it to carry.

02

Design & Proposal

I develop initial sketches and a detailed proposal including materials, dimensions, timeline, and pricing. We refine the concept together until it captures exactly what you're seeking.

03

Agreement & Deposit

Once the design is finalized, we formalize the commission with a contract covering specifications, payment schedule, and delivery terms. A deposit secures your place in my schedule and covers initial materials.

04

Creation

The work begins. Depending on complexity, a piece may take several months to a year. I provide periodic updates with photographs documenting progress. Major decision points are discussed before proceeding.

05

Completion & Delivery

The finished piece is professionally photographed and documented. Final payment is due upon completion. Delivery arrangements are made based on the piece's size and your location.

A Note on Pricing

Studio furniture at this level represents hundreds of hours of skilled labor, premium materials, and design expertise. Pricing reflects the reality of hand-craftsmanship—not what machines could produce, but what only hands can create.

Commissions typically begin in the mid four figures for smaller pieces and scale with complexity, materials, and size. A detailed quote is provided after our initial conversation.
